The Little Button Chair Company was born out of a fascination with the different styles and forms chairs take, and especially those belonging to the 20th century. We steadily began to acquire interesting chairs, all of which needed varying degrees of restoration and re-upholstery.

Our Story
A realisation that this was more than just a passing phase occurred when, whilst on a holiday with three friends in the south of France and travelling in a tiny Peugeot 106, we ended up strapping a chair purchased at a brocante to the car’s roof! It travelled all the way back up through France in this way until we reached the ferry port where we were told it exceeded the height restriction… However, it did eventually make it back across the Channel and now sits in the office!
And as for the name ..? Well that is due to our interest in each individual chair. Should our customers wish to, we can incorporate a tiny piece of the chair’s history by concealing a small button covered in the previous fabric, somewhere on the chair to provide continuity with its past.
What we do – Give much-loved furniture a new lease of life
We can breathe new life into that chair which has been in the family as long as you can remember, being well-worn and more than a little dated, but which you can’t bear to part with. Using a little imagination and some creative use of fabric, your tired chair can be reupholstered and rejuvenated to become a unique and integral part of your home.
Re-upholster vintage and antique chairs
We are passionate about old furniture. The styles, proportions and construction of these pieces are fascinating, and they can often tell their own story. Generally produced from quality materials to a very high standard, these sofas and chairs were designed to provide many years of comfort and service, way beyond what can be expected from many of today’s mass-produced items. Replacing the original foam or filling, together with upholstering in a traditional or fresh modern fabric can completely transform a chair’s once battered appearance into something which is both beautiful and practical.
